Prof Joyce Tait
Joyce has an interdisciplinary background in natural and social sciences and her research covers a range of innovative life science and related sectors including: agrobiotechnology, industrial biotechnology, pharmaceutical and other life science sectors, bio-energy and relevant applications of information technologies. She has developed a suite of methods to analyse innovation processes in these areas, covering (i) strategic planning, business models and value chains; (ii) governance, risk management, regulation and standards; and (iii) stakeholder attitudes and influences. The main current focus is on proportionate and adaptive governance of innovative technologies.
Current appointments include: Prime Minister’s Council for Science and Technology; UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Synthetic Biology Leadership Council and Chair of its Governance Subgroup; Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre Board; Roslin Foundation Board.
